Vance Doyle Stockman was born to Jacob Daniel and Elma (Howenstein) Stockman on February 15, 1931, in Huntington, Indiana. Mr. Stockman passed away on April 7, 2023, in Mabank, Texas.
On December 24, 1953, Vance married his beloved wife Jo Ann (Cross) Stockman of 58 years in Ft. Campbell, Tennessee. Vance retired from the United States Army after 21 years of hard work and dedication where he proudly served his country. He accomplished much while in the Army but the achievements of which he was proudest were being a Jumpmaster and the two tours he served in Vietnam. After retirement, he worked as a Field Auditor.
Vance was a family man. He raised six children and enjoyed every minute of it. Most of his life he worked two jobs to support his big family. When Vance had free time he enjoyed woodworking, and he used this skill to create yard art.
Vance is survived by his stepson Robert Brittin of Angleton, Texas; son James Stockman of Copperas Cove, Texas; daughter Lucy Thornburg of Mabank, Texas; son Allen Stockman of Angleton, Texas; daughter Terrie Loftin of Mabank, Texas, along with 16 grandchildren, and a multitude of great grandchildren.
Vance is preceded in death by his father Jacob Stockman of Hunington, Indiana; Mother Elma Stockman of Huntington, Indiana; wife Jo Ann Stockman of Angleton, Texas; daughter Gail Hoffenek of Farmersville, Texas; sisters Reida of Huntington, Indiana, and Sue of Florida.
