Shirley Beatrice Plumb

May 8, 1941 — September 19, 2024

Mabank, Texas

Shirley Beatrice Plumb, 83, passed away on September 19, 2024, in Mabank, Texas. She was born on May 8, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Ethel Moore. She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter. She had several administrative jobs as an adult, but her desire to care for people stirred up her interest in nursing. She went to nursing school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1981 and cared for and loved on patients in Midland, Texas until she retired.

She gave her life to Jesus not long after moving to Texas in the early 1980’s and became very involved in her church. She went on mission trips to Mexico and Peru and served the youth. It was her desire to live out Matthew 28:19 by making disciples of Jesus Christ so they could experience the joy of a reconciled relationship with God. The family knows that there are countless people came to know Jesus because of her testimony. She loved Jesus, her family and others deeply.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Bill Parrish, and her brothers Jim Moore and Charles (Bud) Moore. She is survived by her husband Larry Plumb Sr, her brother Bill Moore and his wife Marilyn, her children Carlene Jeffcoat, Chris Parrish and his wife Sandy, Craig Parrish and his wife Doris, and B.J. Parrish and his wife Shelli as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

A special thank you to Craig and Doris for caring for her in their home the last two and a half months before she passed, and even though they were only with her for a short time, the family is incredibly grateful for Enhabit Hospice in Gun Barrel City, Texas for the care they gave her in her final days. The family would also like to thank the Moorehead Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City for their much needed help with the arrangements.

The family asks that anyone who is interested and able, to please make donations to Enhabit Hospice in Gun Barrel City.
