Sammy Lee Grimes

October 11, 1956 — February 5, 2020

Sammy Lee Grimes of Tool, Texas, passed away with his beloved wife Leanne at his side on February 5, 2020, at the age of 63.  He was born on October 11, 1956, to Woodrow Wilson Grimes and Clara Inez Boydston in McKinney, Texas.  He met and married Leanne Smith in 2005 and lived in McKinney until 2014 when they retired to lake life at Cedar Creek Lake.

Sammy started his career by driving a combine at age 9 with his family and retired a Master Electrician at the Dallas Convention Center as HVAC /Plumbing Manager.  He was a faithful member of his church, a Mason, a member of the HAM Radio Club, and an accomplished cook.

Sam made everyone’s life better by knowing him.  He is survived by his wife Leanne Smith Grimes, son Jimmy Ray Grimes, Mother Clara Inez Grimes, and sister Jimmye Inez Sessions.  Additional survivors include nephews Anthony Sessions, Steve Grimes, Mike Thomas, Joseph Thomas, and nieces Cristina Stone and Lori Carico, as well as a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held In Tool, Sunday, February 16, at 2 pm at the Providence Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Palmer officiating.  Visitation for friends and family will follow.

Memorial Donations can be made to American Kidney Fund and the Tool Food Pantry in care of the Providence Baptist Church.
