Roy Calvin White, lovingly known by many as “Roy Travis,” passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, in Kemp, Texas, at the age of 72. He was born on July 12, 1953, in Pisgah, Alabama, and later grew up in Rylie, Texas, where he attended Spruce High School.
Roy dedicated his life to carpentry, a craft he carried with pride and skill. Outside of work, he found joy in bowling, singing, and spending time with the people he loved most. Known for his humor and his signature Donald Duck voice, Roy had a way of bringing laughter to children and adults alike. He was our very own modern-day “Roy Travis,” a man whose presence could lift any spirit.
His faith was the cornerstone of his life. As a devoted member of River of Life Church in Kemp, Texas, Roy poured countless hours into evangelizing, sharing his testimony, and helping others build their relationship with Christ. His ability to uplift, encourage, and inspire left an impact that will be felt for generations.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents Bertha Allen and Calvin White; siblings Walter Allen, ZT Allen, Timothy White, Betty Moore, and Angie White; his son-in-law Michael Shewmake; and his granddaughter Kaylie Brooke Brazeal.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary White, and his siblings: Euless Allen (Janie), Vernon Allen (Carrie), Sue Thomas, Pat White, Sharron Young, (Donald Young); his three children: Jody White, with 3 children and 6 grandchildren, Kim Brazeal (Joe), with 4 children and 11 grandchildren, Doug White (Karrisa), with 5 children and 1 grandchild, 12 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Those who knew Roy will forever cherish memories of his Donald Duck impressions, his heartfelt testimonies, and his unwavering dedication to uplifting those around him. His life was a testament of faith, love, and service.
Services
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Moorehead Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Pyle Prairie Cemetery in Kemp, Texas. Afterward, the family invites everyone to a memorial gathering at the Kemp Senior Citizen Center, located at 300 N. Dallas Street in Kemp.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations or prepared meals as expressions of love and support.
Acknowledgments, The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Choice Hospice -Courtney, both Brittanys, Angel, Kathy, Ashleigh, Sarah, Ernest, and Lori; as well as the PalliCare team - Mindy, Taylor, and Molly - for their compassionate care.
A very special thank-you goes to Brother Ben and Debbie Breedlove, who were always there at the drop of a hat to pray over Roy and his family, and who will be officiating the message for Roy’s service. Their love, support, and unwavering presence have meant more than words can express.
The family also thanks their church family, and all relatives and friends entirely, for the love, support, and prayers shown during this time.
