Ronnie Frank Brown, 79, of Tool, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on September 5, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him most.
Born on October 23, 1946, in Seven Points, Texas, Ronnie built a life defined by hard work, deep family roots, and unwavering faith. A devoted Christian, he spent many years serving his church in various capacities.
Ronnie had a long career at Procter & Gamble in Dallas, where he made lifelong friendships before becoming a cattle rancher. He was the kind of person people gravitated toward. He was well liked by everyone who knew him, quick‑witted, appreciative of everything he had, and always attentive to detail.
Family was the heart of Ronnie’s world. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Janice; his daughters, Annsley Johnson and her husband, Chancz, and Keeley Green and her husband, Jason; and his grandchildren, Lexie Johnson Grogan and her husband, John, Landry Johnson, Presley Green, and Quaid Green. He is also survived by his brothers, William Brown, Jerry Don Brown and his wife, Lisa, and John Brown and his wife, Cindy, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mable Brown; his brothers, Mackie Brown and Ricky Brown; his niece, Regina Goodwin; and his nephew, Jeremy Don Brennan‑Brown.
His interests painted a picture of the man he was. Ronnie enjoyed deer hunting, watching football and westerns, working on Letterbox puzzles, playing dominoes, and collecting vintage items. He admired cars of all kinds and loved music, especially singers with strong, powerful voices. Over the years, he attended many concerts and was especially proud to have seen Elvis perform twice. He was always coming up with elaborate pranks and was in it for the long game, not an obvious or quick joke. Ronnie read the newspaper every day, with a particular interest in the religious articles that spoke to his faith.
Ronnie Brown will be remembered for the life he built, the family he cherished, the work he devoted himself to, and the many interests that brought him joy. His legacy lives on in the people who loved him and in the stories they will carry forward.
A funeral service will be held on September 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Tool. A visitation will be at the church beginning at 1:00 PM before the service. Donations may be made in his memory to the Tool Cemetery Association c/o Beth Mason, 5515 PR 5107, Athens, TX 75751.
