Robert Harvey Clements

March 29, 1940 — November 4, 2025

Eustace, Texas

Robert Harvey Clements was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 29, 1940, to Zella Violet Clements and Jesse Verner Clements and died on November 4, 2025. He met his wife, Judith Mason Ewin of Franklin, Tennessee while attending college at SMU in Dallas where he played football. They married and had two daughters, Kenya Lynn Clements and Terri Lee Clements.

Robert and Mason had a love for camping and would spend weekends at area lakes. In 1969, they discovered some property on a relatively new lake in East Texas called Cedar Creek Lake. After two years of camping there on weekends, the couple built a small cabin where they spent much time clearing the land and enjoying the water. In 1971, they moved from Irving and enrolled the girls in the Mabank schools.

Robert enjoyed hobbies such as sports, bird watching, playing piano by ear, which he learned from his mother, photography, golf, studying Roman history, cooking stews, beans, bread and biscotti. He loved to water ski and teach visitors as well. Throughout the years, Robert and Mason hosted a plethora of family and friends at their Lakehouse. One “memorable” occasion was a family reunion that was held in September of 2000. Thirty-three family members converged for a family reunion for the weekend. Many brought tents to sleep outside. However, the stifling 100 plus degree heat sent all 33 into the house to sleep wherever there was floor space. Many more reunions would be held throughout the coming years that would etch fond memories in our hearts and lives.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Zella Clements; siblings, Jesse Verner and Peggy Lynn Feille.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mason; daughters, Kenya Moses and husband Jeff; Terri Hellwig and husband Jerry, grandchildren, Mandy Sinclair and husband Caleb; Megan Naegeli and husband Kyle; Natalie Hellwig; great-grandchildren, Addison, Hudson, Brooks, Everett, Luke; a very special mention of appreciation goes to their neighbors who have been such an encouragement and support over the past ten years. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated as the family navigates the coming days without their beloved husband and father and grandfather and great-grandfather.
