Richard Charles Mittenthal

November 11, 1957 — November 6, 2019

After a brave battle with cancer, Richard Charles Mittenthal passed away on November 6, 2019, at the age of 61.  He was at home in Mabank, Texas, surrounded by his loving family and friends.  He was born on November 11, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to the home of Freeman Lee and Evelyn Naomi Mittenthal.

Richard served his country in the Army in his youth and was stationed in Germany.  After the Army, Richard was a carpenter by trade.  He enjoyed working with his hands and was a skilled craftsman.  When he wasn’t at work, he could be found fishing, gardening, or spending time with his family.  He was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas, and considered his fellow members as dear friends.  Richard fought a long, courageous battle with cancer, and even in the end he was strong.  In lieu of gifts, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Richard’s fight.

He is survived by his wife Ali; daughters Amy, Brittanie, Casey, Shelbi and Tiffany; sons Eric and Corey; and siblings Becky, Brian and Joey; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.  Richard filled the role of “Dad” to many others and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
