Randall Joseph Downing

October 5, 1952 — November 17, 2019

Randall Joseph Downing, 67, passed away on November 17, 2019, resulting from surgical procedures from which he never recovered.  He was born on October 5, 1952, in Winters, Texas, to the home of Billy Wayne and Jeanette Theresa Downing.

After a short stint in the Air Force, veteran status permitted Joe the opportunity to acquire an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University, where he made many friendships that endure even to this day.  Later in his career, Joe held positions including performing machinist work at General Dynamics located in Abilene, Texas, where he was held in high esteem when they transitioned to Lockheed Martin and serving at Child Protective Services in Canton, Texas.

Randall married in 1994 and remained married for 26 years.  Words are insufficient to describe the love and kindness he shared with his wife, Jackie, and as a husband, it is believed that being married to her was his special calling.  Although there were no children as a result of this union, he felt a special affinity for everyone with whom he came in contact.  To say Joe will be missed is an understatement indeed.  “May you rest in peace” is our prayer for him.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Downing; brother John Downing; sister Billie Jean Davis and husband Douglas; and nephew Camron Davis.

Randall is preceded in death by his parents.
