Oretta Joyce Stone

Oretta Joyce Stone, 77, passed away on December 17, 2022.  She was born on August 5, 1945, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and grew up with her four siblings in Odessa, Texas.  She was the daughter of A.C. and Nell Stone.  Oretta was the proud mother of four children and an even prouder grandmother to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and doing crafty things, as well as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Oretta was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Nell Stone, sisters Peggy Wilkey and Delores Hubbard, brother Verlon Stone and grandchildren  Samantha, Joseph, and Marisa.

She is survived by sons Stephen Stone and wife Elaine, Kendell Stone, Paul Stone and Lynn, and daughter Robbin Skaggs and husband Walter, grandchildren Meghan Allman and husband David, Emily Stone, Max Stone, Ella Stone, Jessica Van Scyoc and husband Joshua, and Nicole Bewley and husband Josh, great-grandchildren Micah Allman and Marcus Van Scyoc, and soon to be born Kason Bewley, and last but not least, her brother Harlon Stone and wife Donna.

Oretta was a 15-year survivor of a heart transplant.  She was always so aware of the blessing she received from the donor family, which allowed her to see her grandchildren grow up and her great-grands arrive.

Oretta was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed.

Pastor Dale Norris with Faith Community Baptist Church in Payne Springs, Texas, will officiate for the Stone family.
