Olen Ray (Jack) Ballow, 76, was born on October 22, 1934 in Van Zandt County, TX to the home of Lillian Ollie Groom Ballow and Howard Henry Ballow; passed away on August 23, 2011 in Canton, TX. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Ramona Ballow Rose, and husband Mark of Canton, TX, Douglas Ballow and wife Jill of Canton, and Chad Ballow; grandchildren Jacob Fincher, Jory Wilder Servin and husband Patricio, Jody Wilder, Dylan Ballow, Dalton Ballow, Rebekah Ballow, and Julia Ballow; great grandchild, Alysia Servin; sister Jean Linn of Flowermound, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lonzo Ballow, sister Daphine Wright and Gail Hargrave. Jack had a life filled with many adventures. He grew up on a farm in Van Zandt County and went to school in Whitton, TX. He served in the Army from 1952-1956. When he returned he was a homebuilder, owned a gas station and worked in a grocery store chain. He retired from Borden's Milk in 1989. Jack enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball, and once performed country music at the Rymand Auditorium in Nashville, TN. He raced thoroughbred horses. Jack was clearly a jack of all trades. He will be missed by many. Family will be receiving visitors from 6-8pm Thursday August 25, 2011 at Moorhead Epps Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 at Moorhead Epps Memorial Chapel with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mabank-Phalba.
