Nelson Mark Rodriguez, 38, passed away on November 21, 2024, in Gun Barrel City, Texas. He was born on May 19, 1986, in Dallas, Texas to parents Refugio Rodriguez and Doris Gonzales. Nelson passed away due to pulmonary hypertension and right side heart failure (he was diagnosed about 3 years ago).
Nelson was not just defined by his work in medical research with UT Southwestern; he was also a man of varied interests. He had a particular passion for holistic healing and was intrigued by The Gateway Theory, which showcases his broad perspective on health and wellness. Those who knew him could often find him exploring different approaches to healing, eager to learn and share his knowledge with others.
As a true jack of all trades, Nelson took pride in his diverse skills and talents. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was tackling a home improvement project or lending an ear to a friend in need. His versatility and willingness to dive into new challenges inspired many around him.
He leaves behind a legacy through the many lives he touched. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit, engaging conversations, and the unwavering dedication he showed. Nelson’s journey may have come to an end, but the impact he made will undoubtedly carry on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Nelson is preceded in death by his father, Refugio Rodriguez; grandfather, Miguel Gonzales; grandma, Mary Houchins; and grandma, Ines Rodriguez.
Nelson is survived by his daughter, Juliona Rodriguez of Canton, Texas; mother, Doris Mone and husband Thomas of Mabank, Texas; sister, Janie Gonzales and nephew Austin of Dallas, Texas; brother, Anthony Hernandez of Dallas, Texas; brother, Eden Rodriguez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
