Mona Vernell Bell

Mona Vernell Bell, 60 of Athens, Texas passed away on September 15, 2018.  She was born on February 13, 1958 in Houston, Texas to the home of Tommy Lavon & Doris Leverne Gramtham Benefield.

Mona attended schools in Eustace, Texas.  She worked at the family owned City Café in Eustace where she was a waitress & cook.

In Mona’s spare time she enjoyed camping, sewing, cooking and going to the casino boat to see if lady luck would be on her side.  She truly cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Mona is survived by her sister Barbara Cornelius; brother TJ Benefield Jr.; daughters Crystall Hale & her husband Mike, Teara Akin and LaCreatia Cagle; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.  Mona will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mona is preceded in death by her parents, sister Diane Briggs; and her husband Wayne Bell.

Bro. Ed Schauer with the Church of the Nazarene in Gun Barrel City, Texas will officiate for the Bell family.
