Michael Osborne

Michael Layne Osborne, 65, of Mabank, Texas, passed away on August 30, 2026. He was born on April 7, 1961, in Canyon, Texas, to Charles and Lanelle Osborne.

Michael grew up in Garland, Texas, where he graduated from Lloyd V. Berkner High School in 1979. An accomplished athlete from an early age, Michael played varsity basketball and baseball before continuing both sports at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. During his time there, Michael was a dedicated member of Chi Delta Eta and worked as an RA. He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. Following college, Michael built a successful career in technology and information systems. He began his career with Liberty Mutual as a claims manager before moving to Chilton, now Experian, where he transitioned into the IT field. He later worked as an IT Manager for Snelling and as IT Director for Habitat for Humanity. Michael spent the final 13 years of his career with Victron Energy before retiring in April 2026.

On November 26, 2005, Michael married Ashley Osborne in Plano, Texas. Together, they shared 20 loving years of marriage. Michael was a man of many talents and interests. He loved baking for his family, particularly his famous chocolate chip cookies and cheesecakes. He enjoyed woodworking and crafting jewelry boxes, and whenever he could, he continued playing basketball, baseball, and volleyball. He was also deeply dedicated to martial arts, earning a black belt in jiu-jitsu and developing skill in Kobushin sword techniques and the use of the bokken, a traditional wooden sword. Above all else, Michael was devoted to his family. He was the person his family could turn to for wisdom, guidance, and advice. He was grounded, dependable, and always put his family first. He treasured the time he spent with those he loved and took great pride in being a husband, father, and uncle figure to the family he built and embraced.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Charles Osborne of Wylie, TX .

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ashley Osborne of Plano, TX; his mother, Lanelle of Garland, TX; step mother, Kathy Osborne of Wylie, TX; his children, Garrett (Sarah) Osborne of Wylie, TX; Caitlin (Matthew) Mead of Ft. Worth, TX; Brennen Osborne of Wylie,TX; Paul Burnham of Denver, CO; Madison (Collin) Eberle of Jupiter, FL; Tate (Alyssa) Burnham of Mabank, TX, Mackenzie Burnham and fiancé Cade Hathaway of Abilene, TX; his sister, Sharla (Steve) Sanders of Wylie, TX and nephews, Christian and Devon McCrary, of Wylie TX, mother and father in-law, Jack and Loretta Hodges, as well as numerous family and friends who will miss him dearly. Michael was a beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His kindness, wisdom, devotion to his family, and the many ways he cared for those around him will remain with them always
