Tool, Texas

Melinda Hathcock, age 68, of Tool, Texas, passed away on April 24, 2026. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on May 20, 1957, to parents Hollis and Joy (Mack) Fisher.

Melinda graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Community Business College. Melinda carried her education with pride, using it to build a career that benefited her community in practical and meaningful ways. Melinda’s career was rooted in public service, where she made a lasting impact as a Public Housing Director and city administrator.

Those who knew Melinda often speak of her as someone who was always happy and very outgoing. She had a genuine zest for life and encouraged everyone to live theirs to the fullest, often reminding friends and family that memories are priceless and cannot be replaced with money. Melinda made too many fabulous memories to pick a favorite because, to her, they were all special.

Melinda's love extended beyond work and family into the hobbies and interests that filled her days with joy. Melinda was a dedicated coach for the Special Olympics team she affectionately called “her other family.” Traveling was another passion—she enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Branson, and Colorado, but her heart belonged to cruising, which she did every chance she got. Outdoors was where she found peace, whether riding jet skis or simply watching the sun rise and set.

Among her proudest accomplishments was the time spent with her “little soulmate” Finley, as well as all the kids and grandkids who were so important in her life. These moments brought her the purest happiness. Melinda’s spirit and enthusiasm for life will remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her—a reminder to embrace each day fully and cherish the memories made along the way.
