Mark Stanley Mikulec

April 9, 1950 — February 3, 2022

Mark Stanley Mikulec was born on April 9, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Robert Joe and Lillie Belle Carroll Mikulec and returned home to his Heavenly Father on February 3, 2022.

Mark grew up in College Station, Texas, where he graduated from SFA High School.  He then continued his education at Blinn Jr. College.  Upon leaving school, Mark was a firefighter for the City of Bryan and a Firearms Trainer at the Firearms Training School.  He later went to work for Luby’s Cafeteria, where he retired after 20 years.  After retirement, Mark worked with the Andrews Center and then had a second retirement from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

His life away from work was spent with his wife of 50 years, Kathy, and their four children.  He was the most loving and compassionate husband, and the father he strived to be was beyond comprehension.  Mark and Kathy loved taking the family camping, hunting, fishing, and on long road trips.  Mark had an underlying love for his family, and when you were with him, you knew you were special or loved by him by the way he would listen and respond to you.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joe and Lillie Belle Mikulec; in-laws Ludy and Gladys Manthei; and nephews Danny Manthei and Garrett Manthei.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; two daughters Charity and David Reynolds of Canton, and Crystal Mikulec of Bullard; two sons Marcus and Jaime Mikulec of Needville, and Malcolm and Kelli Mikulec of Liberty; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers Larry and Becky Mikulec of Bryan, and Glen Mikulec; in-laws Char Mikulec, Ludy and Sally Manthei of Bryan, Teddy and Donna Manthei of Franklin; Gary and Debbie Manthei of Sugarland; and many loved nieces and nephews.

We ask that Mark be remembered for his desperate love for our Lord and Savior, his compassion, his forgiving spirit, his love for his family, his grace and kindness, and his willingness to help anyone.

Pastor Adam Muckelroy, with Canton First United Methodist Church, will officiate for the Mikulec family.
