Emblem

Marion Francis Clagg, age 91, of Scurry, Texas, passed from this life and went to be with our Lord Saturday, April 27, 2024.  Marion was born March 9th, 1933 to Andrew and Ida Sexton (Southard) Clagg in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Marion met and married the love of his life, Reba Winona Harrison, of Memphis Tennessee, at a USO event where he was stationed while serving at Millington Naval Base near Memphis.  Reba, in a burgundy dress, playing ping pong, caught his eye, and God’s plan for their lives together began. He was never on time for a date, but was on time for their Wedding, July 14th, 1956.  Their plan was California for work, but funds needed replenishing, so Dallas Texas is as far as they went.

Marion worked for the Federal Aviation Administration from which he retired after 25 years of service.

Marion captivated you with telling of stories from the past. He was active in his garden, his favorite place to be, up until his passing.  He had a love of the outdoors; fishing, hunting, tinkering, inventing, creating one of kind wind chimes or functional items from all things he saved or collected.  He loved spending countless hours playing outdoor games with his Children and Grandkids.  He never turned down a game of 42 dominoes, which he was very skilled at.  His unique and comical sayings kept us all in laughter;  Before bidding he would say;  “Get a good grip” - “With these bricks I will build a castle”, Or  “Partner, Let’s throw Mammy from the train” - “They’re getting mighty uppity partner” - “Sixes are trump and I’m gonna lead a four” and many more.

Marion and Reba shared an astounding and exemplary 67 years of marriage together!  Family was everything to him.

Marion is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Clagg, Norman OK, 5 Brothers; Arthur, Ray, Don, Roy, and Paul, 1 Sister, Virginia Herrin, and Daughter, Cheryl Martin Clagg.
