Marina Antonia Valle Godoy

June 18, 1929 — July 19, 2021

Marina Antonia Valle Godoy, 92, passed away on July 19, 2021.  She was born on June 18, 1929, in El Salvador to parents Antonio Godoy and Juana Valle Godoy.  She was the oldest of four girls and became “Mama Bear” to her younger sisters.

Mama Marina, as we so affectionately called her, was a very passionate woman.  Her love for serving the Lord was very evident.  She loved missionary work and helping others.  She was no stranger to hard work.  She made friends with everyone; even is she just met you, she would make you feel as though you knew her always.  She didn’t hesitate to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone she could.  She had a love for life and for traveling.  She often traveled from place to place and wouldn’t stay in one permanently.  She had a gifted hand for making food for her family, as well as for church fund raisers.  Tortillas, frijoles colados, pupusas, and tamales were a staple in our home.  She always made sure we were properly fed.  One of the fondest memories of her was her singing and tending to her plants.  She said singing to her plants was the secret to their growth.  Any plant she brought home would flourish.  Mama Marina loved to worship the Lord.  She was a strong woman in her faith and was an example for us all.  She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Delmy and husband Ivan, and son Jaime and wife Millie; eight grandchildren Nelson, Ely, Wendy, James, Leslie, Helen, Eric, and Marinita; twelve great-grandchildren Daniel, Manuel de Jesus, Bryana, Bianca, Rachel, Eric, Michael, Shaina, Gladys, Logan, and Adrian; and six great-great grandchildren Nyhla, Aisha, Zaira, Joel, Nelson, Jr., and Marley.

Marina is preceded in death by her sons Jose and Walter; granddaughter Nelly; and siblings Guillermina, Concepcion, and Mirtala.

Pastor Don Bell with Lakeview Assembly of God in Seven Points, Texas, will officiate for the Godoy family.
