Teresa Marilyn Laing

Teresa Marilyn Laing, lovingly known as Marilyn, passed away on Friday September 9, 2016, in Gun Barrel City, Tx. She was born in New Orleans, La on May 2, 1948 to the late Lloyd and Ann Theriot. Marilyn is survived by David Laing, husband of 46 years and sons Keith Laing and wife Nikki of Texarkana, Tx, Kary Laing and wife Alison of Forney, Aron Laing and wife Crystal of Kaufman, Tx, grandchildren Bryceson Laing of Texarkana, Cameron and Caden Laing and Karson and Kaylee Rivers of Forney, and Sadie Laing of Kaufman, sisters Loylyn Miles of Whitehouse, Tx, and Teddi Sparks of Theriot, La.

Marilyn was a high school Geometry teacher at schools in Metairie, La. and at T.K. Gorman High School in Tyler, Tx. For twenty years, Marilyn was owner of Schlotzskys Restaurant with her first store in Metairie, La. then moving to Texas and opening stores in Gun Barrel City and Terrell. For the last ten years of her life her passion was the well-being of St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City where she was the Finance Officer. She was also a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard on Cedar Creek Lake.

Family will hold visitation on Friday September 16, 2016 at Moorehead-Epps Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Rosary will be recited from 6:30-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, Tx on September 17, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Father Dan Daugherty as Celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Bryceson Laing, Cameron Laing, Caden Laing, Karson Rivers, Tim Sparks and Mark Landry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Landry, Joey Lafranca and Larry Miles.
