Lonnie LaPorte

Apr 29, 1947 — Jul 17, 2026

Tool, Texas

Lonnie LaPorte, age 79, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Malakoff, Texas. She was born on April 29, 1947, in Tarrant County, Texas to parents L.D. and Dorothy (Raines) Jones.

Lonnie graduated from high school in Kennedale, Texas, and spent much of her life working hard to care for others. She worked as a maid and later as a school janitor, taking pride in doing her job well and providing for her family.

Lonnie was outgoing and enjoyed being around people, but she also wasn't afraid to put her foot down when it mattered. She had a caring heart, a strong spirit, and loved her family deeply.

Lonnie's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Some of her happiest memories were simply spending time playing with her grandkids and watching her family grow.

Lonnie enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved reading books, watching westerns, spending time at the lake, fishing, and being outdoors. Purple was her favorite color, and anyone who knew her remembers that she almost always had a sweater on because she was always cold. She never turned down a Dr. Pepper or a glass of sweet tea.

Lonnie will be remembered for her love of family, her hard work, her sense of fun, and the many everyday moments that meant so much to those who loved her. Lonnie’s memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lonnie is preceded in death by her parents, L.D. and Dorothy Jones; sister, Dorothy Ennis; brothers, Charles Jones, Tommy Jones, and Ronnie Jones.

Lonnie is survived by her son, Tommy Lewis and wife Heather of Tool, Texas; daughter, Michelle Thompson and husband David of Junction City, Kansas; daughter, Shelley Lewis of Rendon, Texas; brother, Johnny Jones and wife Mary of Rendon, Texas; sister, Deanna Jones of Burleson, Texas; brother, L.D.
