LC Humphus

August 1, 1946 — August 27, 2021

LC Humphus “Hump,” 75, passed away on August 27, 2021.  He was born on August 1, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to parents CL and Mae Pearl Humphus.

LC worked his early years at Henderson Wrecking Yard.  He was known as “junkyard dog.”  He later became a carpenter for Moye Construction.  Hump loved taking his wife to auction sales as their hobby was retail resale.  They set up in the same spot at Canton First Monday Trade Days for 39 years.  He loved going to wrestling matches with his younger daughter every Friday night in Dallas. He enjoyed coon hunting, raising animals, car racing, rebuilding hot cars, traveling to flea market sales, and bidding on storage buildings.  He always had an open house for all his grandkids, and he loved them all equally.  He loved going on vacations and reunions with family and friends.  Hump never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to a stranger.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind two daughters Loretta Flores and husband Victor of Mabank, Texas, and Lora Ford and fiancé Bobby Hamblin of Kemp, Texas; grandchildren Christy Partin, Travis Russel, Jr., Markie Ford, Jr., Heather Janette Ford, Kayla Ornelas, Kyle Tucker, and Joseph Flores; great-grandchildren Bethany Alexander, Jewel Alexander, Vanna Alexander, Trinity Partin, Braden Wooford, Spencer Ford, Saydee Ford, Candence Wall, Cameron Wall, Blane Wall, Peyton Wall, Bella Ornelas, Nathan Elam, Landon Elam, Dylon Ornelas, Dawson Tucker, and Elouise Sills; 18 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild Emblery Underwood; sister Rehta Worthy from Dallas, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends he loved dearly.

LC is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Janette Linebaugh Humphus; mother Mae Pearl Jenkins Humphus; father CL Humphus; siblings Dorothy Coleman, Louise Swindle, Cecil Humphus, Robert Humphus, and Jimmy Humphus.
