Joyce Lee Lewis

Joyce Lee Lewis passed away on February 11, 2020.  She was born on December 20, 1934, in Corsicana, Texas, to  John Robert Chaney and Martha Louise Clark.

Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.  Her signature gift was the kindness and care she generously gave to her family and friends.  She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Bobby Earl Lewis, for 69 years.  Together they raised seven children.  Joyce faithfully cared for her family and friends through homemaking which included delicious cooking (and lots of it), baking, gardening and making quilts by hand.  She was a woman of faith and the heart of the Lewis family.  She was an active member of Eustace Church of Christ for many years and a friend to all the members there.  In addition to homemaking, she was proud of the brief time she spent working outside the home at Sears and with the Mesquite School District.  Her zest for life was extended to many friends and family, including seven children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 69 years Bobby Lewis; daughters Brenda Handley, Debra Lewis, Pamela Church, Linda Oehlschlager, Lisa Sherlock and husband Dominick; sons Bobby Lewis, Jr., and Billy Lewis; grandchildren David McPherson and wife Winnie, Brian Easterly and wife Julie, Brad Lewis, Dana Foster, Garret Oehlschlager and wife Autumn, Dominick Sherlock, and Charlie Oehlschlager; great-grandchildren Justin McPherson, Delaney McPherson, Ava Easterly, Emmy Easterly, Tucker Easterly, Montana Carroll and husband Lonnie, and Easton Foster; two great-great-grandchildren Tatum and Brittany.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support.  Gratitude and appreciation are extended to the caring staff at Mabank Nursing Home and Visiting Nurses Association.

Pastor Robert Patterson of Mabank Church of Christ will officiate for the Lewis family.
