Joy Lucille Thorn

Joy Lucille Thorn, 93, passed away on June 28, 2024, at her home in Mabank, Texas. She was born on October 21, 1930, in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents Elzie Joseph and Elizabeth Viola (Franklin) Bowden.

A true lover of classic movies, Joy could often be found enjoying old black and white films. Watching these timeless pieces brought her great delight and allowed her to escape into different worlds. Joy had a sharp memory that never failed to surprise her family. She could recall the tiniest details about people, making everyone feel special in her presence.

One of Joy's favorite pastimes was people watching, she found joy in observing others and often drew inspiration from the world around her. Joy also loved to reminisce about the good old days and cherished moments from the past She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Elizabeth Bowden; and her husband, Howard Elbert Thorn

Joy is survived by her son, Howard Wayne Thorn and wife Sondra of Mabank, Texas; son, Ronnie Gene Thorn of Oklahoma; grandkids, Chris, Chelsey, Carl, and Casey; 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
