Johnnie Sprinkle

Johnnie Frances Sprinkle, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, in Mabank, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 5, 1941, in Elm Grove, Texas, Johnnie lived a life defined by love, kindness, faith, family, and a wonderful sense of humor. A devoted Christian woman, she carried a gentle spirit and a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. She had, quite simply, the kindest heart to ever beat.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jerry Lynn Sprinkle; her grandson, Chris Rodgers; her parents, Eula May and Henry Grady Higginbotham; and her brother, Henry Higginbotham.

She is survived by her children, Kyle Almand and wife Cathy, and David Sprinkle, Sr.; her grandchildren, Linda Matlock, Kandice Sprinkle, Denise Seago and husband Brady, David Sprinkle, Jr., and Tandra Sprinkle; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Jordyn Hale, Christyn Johnson, Madison Damron, Jenna Matlock, Asher Sprinkle, KaeLynn Smith, Godric Smith, and Beau Seago.

She is also survived by her siblings, Linda Hoyt and late husband Sonny, and Larry Higginbotham and wife Gail, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her.

Johnnie worked at Reserve Life Insurance in downtown Dallas before moving to Nations Bank in Mesquite, Texas. In 1993, she transferred to Nations Bank in Brownwood, Texas. She then went to work for Mills County State Bank in Goldthwaite, Texas before ultimately retiring and relocating to Mabank, Texas.

Johnnie found joy in the things she loved. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, cats, shopping, and hunting. During hunting seasons, she did her best to hold things down at the Pigfoot Ranch, enjoying the traditions and camaraderie that came with the season.

And anyone who knew Johnnie knew that she had a special way of keeping her family in line—with a healthy dose of humor. If someone showed up with their hair unbrushed, unruly, or otherwise looking like they had just wandered out of the wilderness, Johnnie had a name for them: the “wild man” or “wild woman of Gitche Gumie.” It was one of those sayings that was uniquely Johnnie, and it is sure to bring a smile to the faces of those who heard it over the years.

More than anything, Johnnie loved her family. She gave of herself freely and loved deeply. Her kindness was not something she simply spoke about—it was something she lived every day. She had a way of making people feel cared for, welcomed, and loved.

Her faith was an important part of who she was, and those who knew her will remember the quiet strength, compassion, grace, and humor with which she lived her life. She was a beloved member of Grace Community Church in Mabank, Texas.

Johnnie leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched and the generations who will carry her love forward.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with those who went before her.

Her hands may no longer be here to create, but everything she created with her heart will remain.

Rest peacefully, Johnnie. You were loved beyond words, and you will be missed beyond measure.
