John Howard Epps, Sr.

Born January 3rd, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to GA and Freddie Mae Epps.
John passed away May 28th, after a brief illness in Athens, Texas.

John attended schools in Dallas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, San Antonio in 1957.

John served many years in the Air Force Reserves as an Air Borne Radio Operator before joining the Dallas Police Department. John was also owner/operator of the family barbecue business: Epps Smokehouse.  John retired from the Dallas County Sheriffs department in 2000.

John enjoyed many years of retirement at his home in Gun Barrel City. During his retirement, John and Jerry Moorhead formed Moorhead-Epps Funeral Home.

John was preceded in death by his parents: Garnett (GA) Epps; Freddie Mae Adams Epps and his son James Eugene Epps.

John is survived and greatly missed by his loving family.
