Joe Louise Ogg

May 30, 1937 — November 26, 2025

Mabank, Texas

Joe Louise Ogg, age 88, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Mabank, Texas. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Joseph and Ailline (Theall) Spillman.

Joe spent many years working as a receptionist in the emergency room, providing a comforting presence to those in need. Her background included earning a secretarial degree after high school, which laid the foundation for her long career. Joe's giving heart was evident to everyone who crossed her path; she was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Known affectionately as Memaw by her family, Joe led a life marked by kindness, resilience, and an unyielding spirit.

Joe's love for books was evident in her daily life—she could often be found enjoying a fresh cup of coffee on her back porch, savoring a good read, and sharing quiet moments with those she loved. Those memories linger sweetly; it was in those silent afternoons that much was shared without needing to say a word.

When it came to her hobbies, Joe had plenty to keep her busy. Her rose garden is where she loved to be, where she spent hours tending to her plants. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, always keeping one by her chair, ready to tackle while she relaxed. A true animal lover, Joe cherished her two cats, Monster Oreo Lil Bit and Sophie Tiger, as well as a spirited kitten she named Curious Georgia Sassy, whom she found after coming home from the hospital.

One of Joe's proudest accomplishments was her courageous battle against breast cancer in the late 90s. This personal victory showcased her strength and determination, qualities that inspired all who knew her.

Joe is preceded in death by her husband, Wilden Ogg; son, William Paul Thompson; step-son, Robert Ogg; grandson, David Paul Thompson; sister, Patsy Davis and husband J.T.; and sister, Naoma Gilbert and husband J.W.

Joe is survived by her granddaughter, Amanda Vandermolen of Sasakwa, Oklahoma; great-grandson, Andrew Vandermolen and wife Kassy of Sasakwa, Oklahoma; step-son, Michael Ogg and wife Dena of Whitesboro, Texas; bonus kids, Chris and Kitty Fortier of Ravenna, Michigan, as well as numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
