Jay D. Amundson, age 71, was born August 9, 1950 in Oakes, North Dakota to Wallace L. Amundson and Rebecca C. Kegley. Jay went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Tyler, TX. Jay served as an officer in the US Army from 1968 to 1976 as a helicopter pilot and achieved the rank of captain. He flew two tours in Vietnam (1970-1972). He later worked in construction management and real estate development. Jay enjoyed gatherings with friends and family, traveling abroad, and spending time on his farm and garden. He was a beloved storyteller with a great sense of humor. Jay was a faithful follower of Jesus and passionate about marriage ministry, international rescue organizations, and spending time in fellowship with his faith community. Jay was a devoted son and brother, husband, father, friend, and grandpa. He is survived by his mother, Rebecca, his wife of 48 years, Charlene, his son, Josh and his wife Nicole, and his daughter, Aimee, and his four grandchildren.
