Jackie Lee Smither

Jackie Lee Smither, 85, passed away on May 8, 2020.  He was born on November 19, 1934, in Ardmore, OK, to the home of Jack Grady and Inez Beckham Smither.

He was known to all for his love of God, gentle nature, great sense of humor, and dedication to his family.  He and his father owned and operated Smither Nursery in Pleasant Grove for over 40 years before Jackie and his family began their journey as missionaries in Australia and several other countries around the world.  Following 20 years in mission work, Jackie and Virginia returned to the US spending a few years in Missouri before retiring to Cedar Creek Lake, where they were active members of Restoration Church in Gun Barrel City until health issues prevented their attendance.

Jackie is survived by his daughter Jenny Sohasky and husband Stanley; grandchildren Ashley Smither, Chalahn Graham and husband Joseph, Casey Sohasky, Mikaela Sohasky and husband Michael Land, Maeghan Sohasky, and Josiah Sohasky and wife Haley; great-grandchildren Malachi, Serenity, and Judah Graham; nephews Gary Potter and wife Sharon, Robert Potter and wife Luisa, Thomas Potter and wife Mary, Mark Potter and wife Elena, and Daniel Fletcher and wife Aissa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia Smither, son Michael Dell Smither, and daughter Dina Marie Smither.
