Georgia P. Anderson

Georgia P. Anderson, age 83, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Irving, Texas. She was born on July 9, 1942, to parents Howard and Frances (Gentry) Anderson.

Georgia made her mark as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Justice Correctional Institutions Division in Palestine, Texas. This role was not only a job for her; it was a testament to her fortitude and commitment to service. Her previous endeavors included volunteering with Meals on Wheels, where she shared her kindness and generosity outside of her professional life. Georgia was also a small business owner, proudly operating a little restaurant near where they lived, a venture that brought her joy and allowed her to connect with her neighbors.

Those closest to Georgia would describe her as tough when the situation called for it, but with a heart of gold that shone bright through her actions. Her daily ritual included her beloved chocolate milk—she enjoyed it every morning, again at night, and any time in between. Nickie, her grandchild, fondly recalls the moments spent lining dancing with Georgia, who lovingly shared her knowledge of the craft outdoors when they lived together.

Georgia had a deep love for reading and often enjoyed quiet evenings playing solitaire. Her proud accomplishments, including running her own business and passing all the tests required to start her role as a correctional officer, highlighted her determination and hard work.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, George and France Anderson; daughter, Laura Richards Cantu; son, Richard Dela Richards; brother, George Edward Anderson; sisters, Mary Anderson and Fay Anderson; brother, Jerry Anderson; brother, (Tab) George Anderson; and brother, Howard Anderson.

Georgia is survived by her son, Tim Richards of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Nicki Gonzalez and Martin of Rice, Texas; great-grandson, A.J. Ashford of Rice, Texas; as well as numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
