Gailia "Ruth" Wyatt

November 15, 1940 — August 13, 2025

Gun Barrel City, Texas

Gailia "Ruth" Wyatt, age 84, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Gun Barrel City, Texas. She was born in Kinmundy, Illinois, on November 15, 1940, to parents Louis and Bertha (Elledge) Sutton.

After graduating from Hobbs, New Mexico, Ruth carved out a successful career as an accountant in the oil field. Her keen attention to detail and dedication to her work made her well-respected in her field. However, those who knew her best remember more than just her professional accomplishments. Ruth was always sweet as pie, often sharing her infectious smile, though it was well known that her demeanor could shift if faced with a "no."

Ruth had several passions that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved to fish, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, she cheered passionately for her team. Additionally, her dogs held a special place in her heart, providing companionship and joy.

Perhaps her proudest accomplishments were found in her love for her husband and son. Ruth's family was her foundation, and her affection for them was evident in all that she did.

The family wishes to thank the numerous caregivers who have taken care of and loved Aunt Ruthie in the last 10 years. You all went above and beyond and will always have a special place in our hearts. Especially JD Dimsdale, all the girls at The Lodge in Gun Barrel City, as well as Doug and the girls with Always Accurate Hospice.

Ruth is preceded in death by her father, Louis Sutton; mother, Bertha Elledge; brother, Louis A. Sutton, Jr.; brother, Glen Sutton; husband, Charles Wyatt; and son Pat Wyatt.

Ruth is survived by her nephew and caregiver, Rickie Wyatt and wife Julie of Mabank, Texas; nephew, Phillip Sutton and wife Gae of Cibolo, Texas; nephew, Robbie Wyatt and wife Karen of Canyon, Texas; great-nieces and great-nephews, close friends and neighbors for 40 years, “Aunt” Wanda and “Aunt” Paulette of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; as well as numerous other family, friends, and loved ones.
