Dorothy Ann Vanderburg

October 27, 1945 — April 7, 2021

Dorothy Ann Vanderburg was born to the late Ruby and Wilson Padgett in Marion, Arkansas, on October 27, 1945. She was one of six daughters and two sons.  She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1973 with a Registered Nursing degree and served in the field for 40 years. Her nursing skills and bedside manner surpassed most.

Dorothy was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Harold Newton Vanderburg, on January 26, 1974, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They raised four daughters and one son with patience, discipline, and humility.  She taught us many lessons, from cleaning hacks to cooking and cake decorating. She taught us to always be kind, fair, and help others.  She loved to sew, work puzzles, garden, play softball, ride motorcycles, and jet skis.  She was a strong, unique woman that never let grass grow under her feet.

Dorothy was an extraordinary servant at heart.  She opened her home to family and friends, had gatherings and weddings at her house.  She baked, cooked, and cleaned and wouldn’t ask for help and would run you out of the kitchen if you tried!  She was kind and softly spoken and always had time to answer questions or help solve problems.  She was a realist, honest, and was not a gossip. She encouraged those around her. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Brenda Joyce and Edna Lucille. She is survived by her husband, Harold Vanderburg, and five siblings Carol Collard, Kathy Herron, Virginia Cotter, Walt Padgett, and Wilson Padgett; her five children, Julianna Seabrook, Shellina Faulk, Catherine Paul, Jennifer Hernandez, and Vann Vanderburg; and her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
