Dorothy Laverne Goodwin Jenkins, 75, passed away October 23, 2023, in Athens, Texas. She was born on October 15, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Thurman and Geneva (Platt) Goodwin.
Dorothy was known for her many hobbies and interests. One of her greatest joys in life was sewing. With nimble fingers and an eye for detail, she crafted beautiful garments that reflected her creativity and skill. Her talent brought joy to those who were lucky enough to wear her handmade creations.
Besides sewing, Dorothy had a deep-rooted love for the Lord and cherished the time she spent in church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing guidance and strength throughout her journey. She found solace in worship and fellowship, embracing the warmth of a close-knit community.
Cooking and baking were also prominent passions in Dorothy's life. She had a knack for creating delicious meals that delighted the taste buds of family and friends alike. Coconut pies were among her specialties, leaving everyone craving just one more slice. Her culinary talents extended beyond her personal kitchen as she dedicated fifteen years of her life as a cook at Sundown Ranch. Her dedication to providing nourishment touched the lives of many.
Dorothy's outgoing nature endeared her to those around her. She had an infectious personality that drew people towards her effortlessly. Whether it was engaging in spirited conversations or extending a helping hand, Dorothy made others feel comfortable and valued in her presence. A true people person, she loved unconditionally and effortlessly spread joy wherever she went.
During one memorable chapter of her life, Dorothy embraced an unexpected passion as a Christian biker. Riding on two wheels with fellow believers, she combined the thrill of biking with the bond of faith. This unique form of fellowship allowed Dorothy to connect with others who shared her love for God while enjoying the freedom of the open road.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Thurman Sr., and Geneva Goodwin.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ozzie Wayne McKnight and wife Lori of Maryville, TN; daughter, Windy Shuree Hitt and husband David of Mabank, TX; stepdaughter, Connie Wible of MI; grandson, Lucas McKnight of Maryville, TN; great grandson, David Lee McKnight of Maryville, TN; sister, Barbara Tuomi of Mabank, TX; brother, Thurman Henry Goodwin Jr., and wife Sharon of Mabank, TX; brother, Charles Leon Goodwin of Milford, TX; brother, Sam Ramsey and wife Nancy of Denton, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
