Donald Hugh Witherspoon, Sr.

Donald Hugh Witherspoon, Sr., 77, of Kemp, TX passed away on July 31, 2023.  Donald was born on September 12, 1946, to James and Una (Howard) Witherspoon in Dallas, TX.  He was raised and lived in the Dallas area early in his life, then settled in Kemp, TX for over the last 35 years. Donald was a Navy Veteran obtaining many special achievements including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Donald worked at Auto Glass Center as an auto glass repairman, along with a few other companies prior to retiring.  He did spend some time fishing, but mostly enjoyed cooking and grilling for big family gatherings on most weekends.  

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, James and Una Witherspoon and 12 siblings. 

Donald is survived by children: Lola Hornbeck and husband David, Donald Witherspoon, Jr. and wife Melissa, and Michael Witherspoon and wife Alecia; grandchildren: Erin Ayala and husband BobbyRay, Nick Hornbeck and wife Lauren, Erika Hornbeck, Jeff Scott, Kristin Harris and husband Christian, Logan Witherspoon, Frank Gambrell and Derik Gambrell and wife Tamela; great-grandchildren: Bowie Hornbeck, Lola Ayala, Mia Clair Harris, Lacy Gambrell and Ace Gambrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Donald Witherspoon, Sr., will have a service with Navy military honors rendered at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 10:15am on August 25, 2023.
