Deloris Ann Schmitt

January 9, 1947 — November 23, 2021

Deloris (Suzie) Maxfield Holcomb Schmitt, 74, gained her angel wings on November 23, 2021, in Athens, TX.  She was born on January 9, 1947, in Grand Prairie, TX, to parents Jesse Maxfield and Pernice Ogles Maxfield.

Suzie’s greatest joy was being a “Grandma,” not only to her grandchildren, but she would tell everyone to call her “Grandma.”  And she dearly loved being a “Great-Grandma.”  She worked at Mabank Nursing Home and Park Highland Nursing Home for many years as a CNA.  She loved caring for the elderly.  Suzie also ran a daycare out of her home for several years.  She was a member of Restoration Church in Eustace, TX.

Suzie is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Pernice Maxfield; brothers Larry Maxfield and Richard Maxfield; sister Paula Gilbert; and sister-in-laws Pat Maxfield and Trisha Maxfield.

She is survived by her children Luke Holcomb, Ginger Holcomb, and John Holcomb and wife Shannon, all from Mabank, TX; grandchildren Michael Holcomb and husband Frederick Villa of California, Amanda Aguilar and husband Hector, Brooke Holcomb, and Matthew Holcomb, all from Mabank, TX; great-grandchildren Journey Holcomb, Mateo and Giovani Aguilar, all from Mabank, TX; brothers Don Maxfield, Terry Maxfield, and Bruce Maxfield and wife Diane; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and life-long friend for over 65 years, Joyce Noack.

Our family would like to thank the UT Health hospital staff for the care they gave our mother; two nurses gave exceptional care, Ashley, the RN in ICU, and Kristen, the RN on the 1st floor.  Also, thank you for the many months of care from Hospice Plus, especially Cheri Coker, her CNA; she always made my mom smile, and her case manager Cassandra RN; she loved you visiting and all the staff.

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held on January 8, 2022, pending arrangements.
