David Wayne McLean

David Wayne McLean, 73, of Malakoff, Texas passed away on November 21, 2023 in Athens, Texas. David was born on November 29, 1949, to Emmett and Edith (Gunn) McLean in Winter Haven, Florida. 

David lived a life filled with wit, passion, and an unwavering love for his dogs, horses, and of course classic cars. With a glimmer in his eye and a quick quip always at the ready, David's dry sense of humor was truly one of a kind. Whether it was a clever one-liner or a perfectly timed sarcastic remark, he had an uncanny ability to make even the most mundane moments feel light-hearted and entertaining. His comedic presence could brighten up any room and will forever be missed by all who knew him.

Beyond his quick wit and infectious laughter, David had a deep love for his four-legged companions. His dogs and horses were not just pets; they were family members who filled his life with unconditional love and unwavering loyalty. David found solace in their company and spending time with them brought him immense joy.

In addition to his furry friends, David had a unique passion for restoring and working on classic cars with his favorite era being those from the ‘60s. Among his prized possessions was his beloved 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe, which he poured countless hours into fixing and perfecting. The sleek curves of that classic beauty were a true reflection of David's meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering dedication to preserving the past.

But beyond all these interests that defined David's character, it was his warm heart and genuine love for his family and friends that truly left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. He was always eager to lend an ear or offer a helping hand to those in need. A true pillar of strength and support for his loved ones, David's impact on their lives is immeasurable and he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Edith McLean; and brother, Clyde Gunn.
