Celebrating the Life of David Jennings

David Jennings, a proud veteran, beloved father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on January 16, 1933, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, David was a man defined by resilience, duty, and quiet strength.

As a young man, David answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army on May 10, 1951. He served honorably for three years during the Korean War, demonstrating immense bravery on the front lines. A highly decorated veteran, David was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars. Most notably, he earned the prestigious Combat Infantryman Badge, a testament to his courage under fire.

The discipline, patriotism, and dedication David carried from his time in the military shaped the rest of his long life. He returned home to anchor his family with the same steady presence, integrity, and unwavering love that defined his character.

David was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Billie Jennings; his daughter, Jonia Potts; great-grandson, Dylan Yates; and his son-in-law, Michael Yates, who passed away just days before him.

His legacy of strength and devotion lives on through his surviving children: Connie Yates and her husband Dan, Rhonda Yates, and David Ray Jennings and his wife Alyson, as well as his son-in-law, Meredith Potts. He also leaves behind a proud generation of grandchildren who adored him: Danny Yates, Amanda Yates, James Michael Coulter, Benjamin Roberts, Jeremy Koonce, Candace Jones, and Aiden Jennings, as well as a community of extended family and fellow veterans who will miss him dearly.

A burial service to honor David’s extraordinary life and service will be held on Wednesday, July 1st at 10:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
