Emblem

David Carl Bullard, Sr., born May 31, 1950, in Kemp, Texas, passed away the afternoon of July 10, 2025, in Athens, Texas, while surrounded by loved ones and family.

David served in the United States Army under a "personal invitation" by sitting President Nixon in 1969, where he saw active duty in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1971. Upon his return he married Carolyn Davidson in 1978, raised two children and worked as a truck driver for 43 years.

David Bullard was known to many for his compassionate nature and sense of humor. He was kind, giving and had the most wonderful heart. He cherished his family and his loved ones and greeted everyone he met with an open heart and a smile. A great many things can be said about who David was and the life he lived but all fall far too short to encapsulate his spirit or the emptiness his loved ones feel in their hearts.

David had a long, full life well lived. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, friend, husband, provider and person. David was loved by many and loved many just as hard. He will be greatly missed and his seat can never be filled by another- but he leaves us with many memories and laughs.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie Bullard and Flora (Jones) Bullard; Uncle Earl and Aunt Effie Jones, brothers, Travis and Richard (Dickie) Bullard; sisters, Julia Bullard, Jessi Susan Blackman, Mary Jane Bernard and extended family.

David is survived by son David "Son" Bullard, Jr.; daughter Misty "Pill" Bullard; grandchildren, Dylan Fowler and Zoie Bullard; and a host of extended family by love, Carolyn Davidson, Donna, Gary, Ruth Ann and Laurie, Amber and Liam Anderson, Tim Cook, Tyler Blackketter, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
