In Loving Memory of Cary Marvin Roundtree
10/03/1961 - 10/25/2026
Cary Marvin Roundtree was a one-of-a-kind man who lived life on his own terms, loved with his whole heart, and left a lasting impression on just about everyone he met. Known for his sense of humor, his larger-than-life personality, and his ability to turn an ordinary day into a memorable one, Cary was truly the life of the party and a joy to be around.
Cary graduated from Skyline High School in 1980 and went on to build a career as a machinist, dedicating more than 30 years of his life to his trade. Through decades of hard work, he demonstrated the determination and work ethic that were an important part of who he was. But Cary was much more than his career. He was a loving father, a proud grandad , a brother, and a loyal friend. Family meant the world to him, and some of his happiest moments came from spending time with the people he loved.
One of Cary’s proudest moments was becoming a father when his daughter, Sarah, was born on December 23, 1991. Years later, he experienced the joy of becoming a grandad to Ryker on February 24, 2020. Being a father and grandad brought him a special kind of happiness, and the memories he made with his family will be treasured for generations to come.
Cary had a passion for the things that made life exciting. He loved fishing, dirt track racing, riding back roads, and, as those who knew him would surely agree, raising a little hell along the way. Whether he was enjoying a cold beer with friends, heading out on a fishing trip, or spending a day at the racetrack, Cary knew how to have a good time. His love for racing was a big part of his life, and earning the title of track champion in 1987 at DFW Speedway was an accomplishment he could carry with pride.
Some of Cary’s most cherished memories were the simple ones: fishing trips with family and friends, teaching his grandson to ride a dirt bike, and making memories together on golf carts. These moments captured the heart of Cary—being surrounded by the people he loved, sharing a few laughs, and making sure nobody left without a story to tell.
Cary also had a special gift for making people feel welcome. He never needed a reason to strike up a conversation, and he certainly never met a stranger. If you were willing to listen, Cary was more than happy to talk. He had a way of bringing people together, making them laugh, and turning friendships into something more like family.
To some, he was a friend. To others, he was a brother from another mother. But to the people who truly knew him, Cary was someone they could always count on. He was the kind of man who stood by the people he cared about and left a mark that could never be easily forgotten.
Of course, no story about Cary would be complete without acknowledging his mischievous side. He enjoyed life, lived loudly, and wasn’t one to let too many rules get in the way of a good time. His humor, his stories, his love of adventure, and his unmistakable personality made him who he was. Life with Cary was never dull, and those who shared it with him wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Cary leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Derek; his beloved grandson, Ryker; his sister, Donna Kislack; his brothers, Gary Roundtree, and Tary Roundtree and his wife, Brenda; his sister, Samanthia Lane, and her husband, Ben; and his cherished brother from another mother, Gerald Ray.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who, though not individually named here, were deeply loved by Cary and held a special place in his heart.
Each of these family members carries their own memories of Cary—the laughter, the stories, the adventures, and the moments that made him such an unforgettable part of their lives. Though they must now learn to navigate life without his presence, the love he gave them will remain a part of them always.
Cary was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Riley Rose Banik, and his parents, Margie Roundtree and M.W. Roundtree.
Though the pain of losing loved ones is never easy, the bonds of family and love remain unbroken. May the thought of Cary being reunited with those who went before him bring comfort to the hearts of those who mourn his passing.
A Life and Legacy to Remember
Though Cary’s absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, the memories he created will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and comfort to those who loved him. His stories will be retold, his jokes will be remembered, and the lessons he taught through his loyalty, hard work, and love for family will live on.
Cary Marvin Roundtree was a father, a grandad , a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a man who lived life his own way. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, unforgettable adventures, and love that will continue through the people whose lives he touched.
He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts.
Rest easy, Cary. Save us a spot, keep the stories coming, and until we meet again, may the fish be biting, the back roads be open, and the racetrack always be fast.
