Carolyn Joy Anderson

December 20, 1943 — June 7, 2026

Carolyn Joy Anderson, age 82 of Pasadena, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2026. True to her name, Carolyn was a JOY to be around and was always pulling pranks, cracking jokes, smiling and laughing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend.

She was born in Lubbock, Texas, and grew up in Abilene. Carolyn left high school in the 10th grade and returned to work on her own education once her two girls were in school. She received her GED from San Jacinto Jr. College in Pasadena and then eventually her Master’s in Education from University of Houston, Clear Lake. She worked as a special education teacher and was a fierce advocate for kids with special needs to get all the help available to them. Eventually she became a supervisor for the PISD until she finally retired. There were many parents who stopped her in the shopping malls, (her favorite activity being shopping), to express their gratitude for how she lovingly cared for their children.

She and her husband Lewis were members of First Baptist Church in Pasadena, where she enjoyed shaking hands each Sunday morning as part of the Greeting Team and was also an active participant in the Prayer Ministry.

She was dearly loved by her brother Robert Janes (wife Jo Anne), her two daughters Bronwyn Massa (husband Joseph) and Barbie Brown (husband Craig), her grandson Derek Hale (wife Elizabeth) and bonus family Kirk, Amy and Norris Anderson and Tom Demke. Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis Anderson, and her parents O.O. and Dorothy Janes. The family wants to send a special heartfelt thank you to her team of caregivers: Leslee, Heather, Renetta, Sandy, Casey, Kathy & Elizabeth. Alzheimer’s is a long and hard mountain to climb, and these ladies made the process easier to handle.

We find comfort in the many memories, stories, and lessons Carolyn leaves behind, and she will be tremendously missed.

Death is the last chapter on earth, but the first chapter in eternity. We will meet up with you again.
