Carol Clifton, age 79, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on December 25, 1945, to parents Aden and Mattie (Muns) Kemp.
Carol cherished creating memories with her family, often reminiscing about weekend trips to the beach and playful kickball games in the front yard. Her cornbread dressing was a beloved staple of family gatherings, and she took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, frequently checking in to see how they were doing or, more importantly, what the weather was like where they lived. “If Nanny knew you, she was your Nanny too” was a phrase that encapsulated the love and care she extended to everyone in her life.
Educated in Swainsboro, Georgia, Carol’s personality shone through in everything she did. Despite her small stature, she was recognized as one of the strongest ladies around—sweet, stubborn, and always full of life. She had a simple motto: “Don’t you say goodbye! It’s later!” reflecting her love for connection and her indomitable spirit.
Carol’s career included managing and selling at King & Prince Upholstery in Savannah, Georgia, and for many years she brought her warmth and charm to the dining experience as a server in Tyler, Texas. No matter her role, she always made people feel seen and valued.
In her leisure time, Carol enjoyed settling down with a good book or poring over the newspaper, often challenging herself with crossword puzzles. She loved watching classic shows like Gunsmoke, but more than anything, she treasured the moments spent calling and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
As Carol admired the sunsets from her patio overlooking Cedar Creek Lake, she taught her family the beauty of appreciating life’s simple pleasures. Carol leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast familial bonds. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
