Betty Smith

Betty Lou Smith 78 was born in Opelika, Texas December 19, 1932 to the home of Will Gunnels and Emma miller Gunnels and passed away October 18, in Kaufman, Texas. Mrs. Smith worked in the Henderson County Court House in several different possession and held the office of Tax Collector for 17 years, retiring in 1989. Left to cherish her memory are her children Dennis Smith and his wife Mary, Betty Denise Penix and her companion Kenneth, brother A .C. Gunnels and his wife Myla, sister Zeffie Reep and her husband John, grandchildren Aprile Cook and her husband Joe, Amie Yudizky, Kristi Dickey and her husband John, Chad Robertson, Ashley Opperman and her husband Kevin, David Floyd Jr. and his companion Brandi, great grandchildren Mason, Alyshia, Savannah, Amanda, Alexis, Aiden, numerous other family members and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her three husbands Walter Henry Smith, Jake Smith, D. L. Meador, parents Will and Emma Gunnels, brother Arthur "Man" Gunnels, sisters Eula V. Cotton, Jo Ammos, Imo Gene Featherston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday October 21, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday October 22, 2011 at Moorhead Epps Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Payne Springs Cemetery.
