Abel Vega

Dec 24, 1973 — Oct 20, 2026

Able Abel Vega, 52, passed away on October 20, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on December 24, 1973, in Guanajuato, Mexico, to Ruben Vega Cervantes and Adela Giron Juarez.

Abel was a hardworking man who took pride in his work as an ASE-certified mechanic through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. He was a man who worked with his hands and believed in helping others. Abel had a servant’s heart and never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.

Some of Abel’s favorite memories were made during Sunday family cookouts and family trips. He cherished the simple moments spent together, laughing, sharing meals, and making memories with the people he loved most. Family was at the center of his life, and he showed his love through the time he gave, the things he did, and the care he had for others.

One of Abel’s proudest moments was becoming a Pop Pop to his beloved Oakley Lynn. He loved spoiling her and treasured every moment he got to spend with her. He was also incredibly proud of raising his four children with the same values he lived by: kindness, hard work, generosity, and love for family.

When Abel wasn’t working with his hands or spending time with his family, he could often be found watching his Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, he remained a fan. Whether it was a Sunday cookout, a family trip, time with his children, or spoiling his granddaughter, Abel found happiness in the things that mattered most.

Abel will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his generous spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and his willingness to help anyone who needed him. He did not need grand gestures to show who he was. He showed it in the everyday things he did, the people he cared for, and the love he gave.

Abel is survived by his wife, Selene Vega of Gun Barrel City, Texas; daughter, Clara Vega of Athens, Texas; daughter, Ana Vega of Mabank, Texas; son, Abel Vega, Jr. of Gun Barrel City, Texas; son, Jose Vega of Gun Barrel City, Texas; granddaughter, Oakley Woodard of Mabank, Texas; parents, Ruben and Adela Vega of Gun Barrel City, Texas; sister, Silvia Vega of Gun Barrel City, Texas; and brothers, Juan and David Vega of Gun Barrel City, Texas; as well as numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
